MICHAEL LEE LISTER, Adel

Michael Lee Lister, 58, of Adel, Iowa formerly of the Dexter and Earlham area passed away, February 3, 2012 at his home. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Family Funeral Home – Earlham. Michael was born January 2, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to Floyd Lee and S. Esther Stanley Lister. As a child the family lived in the Des Moines area before making their home in Dexter in 1965. Michael graduated from Dexfield High School with the class of 1972. While in school, Michael excelled in baseball. During his high school days he also worked at the Redfield Pool Hall. He was united in marriage to Crystal Sheriff on November 1, 1975 at the Pitzer Presbyterian Church and together they became the proud parents of two daughters, Monica and Renee. After their marriage they made their home in Earlham. Michael was employed at Meredith Publishing Group in Des Moines as a Bookbinder before retiring after 30 years of service with the company. During this time, Michael was a member of their union. He was an avid NASCAR Fan and enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. He also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, watching horror movies, playing baseball and slow pitch softball, but most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with his daughters and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Esther Lister.

Michael leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Monica (Jake) Cole of Van Meter and Renee Lister of Earlham; brothers, Ron Lister of Dexter, Charles (Beth) Lister of Earlham, Dennis Lister of Dallas Center and David Lister of Dexter; his ex-wife, Crystal Lister of Earlham; grandchildren, Bryce and Garrett Cole of Van Meter and a host of cousins and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
