Mrs. Fortney, a former resident of this community died at Wichita, Kan., and the remains were brought here Friday and short services held at the Kale funeral home conducted by Rev. C. P. Shepard with interment at the Ebenezer cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Fortney were held at Kale's funeral home on Friday at two p.m. in charge of Rev. C. P. Shephard. Interment in the Ebenezer cemetery near Peru.
Mrs. Fortney made her home with her brother, Frank Michner, a few years ago, then going to Kansas to make her home with her children.
The body came on the morning train from Des Moines on Friday.

Mrs. Mattie J. Fortney, 83, died Tuesday at her home, 631 ½ North Market. She was born in New Sheron, Iowa, January 7, 1857, and came to Wichita from Truro, Iowa, eight years ago.
She was a member of the Baptist church and of the Order of the Eastern Star at Scottsville, Kan.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. M. C., Steen, at the home address; two sons, C. E. Fortney, Newark, Ohio, and F. W. Fortney, Tulsa, and a brother, F. W. Michener, Newburg, Ore.
The body will be returned to Iowa for funeral services and burial with the Culbertson mortuary in charge.
