Sarah Janes was born in Harrison county, West Virginia, January 26, 1838 and died at her home near Patterson, Iowa, April 3, 1919 at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 8 days.
On April 21st, 1871, she was united in marriage to J. W. Stout. To this union were born four children, one daughter, Mrs. R. J. Bella of Patterson, Iowa and three sons, E. R. and C. A. Stout both of Patterson and J. M. of Iowa Falls.
She was converted and joined the Methodist church when she was twelve years old and lived a Christian life until death called her. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, J. W. Stout, two brothers, T. R. Janes of Patterson and H. J. Janes of Meridian, Kansas; her four children and eleven grandchildren besides other relatives and friends.
