Mrs. James E. Dowler Dies

Mrs. James E. Dowler, life-long resident of Peru, died at the hospital in Clarinda Thursday, April 20th, after an extended illness. She was 61 years of age. Mrs. Dowler was the former Cora Inez Travis, daughter of Mary E. and Sylvester R. Travis, and was born at what was known as Old Peru, June 20, 1877. Here she spent her girlhood and was married to James Elwood Dowler, December 25, 1901.

The Dowlers were the parents of three children who survive the mother: Curtis E. Dowler of Winterset; Clark B. Dowler of Peru; and Mary Lucille Tolles of Des Moines. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Maude Lorimor of Monte Vista, Colo., and two brothers, M. B. of Prairie City and E. L. Travis of Peru. Mr. Dowler died January 15, 1910, and a brother died in 1893. She also leaves two grandchildren.

Mrs. Dowler united with the Methodist church when a girl and she remained a faithful member as long as her health permitted.

The Rev. Howard Machlan conducted her funeral services at the Methodist church in Peru Saturday at two o’clock, and burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

Peru Happenings

The funeral of Mrs. Inez Dowler who died at Clarinda Thursday was held at the church here on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. H. Machlan. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
