Wm. B. Laizure Dies

W. B. Laizure, familiarly known here as Billie Laizure, died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Tuesday March 28th, after a short illness. Mr. Laizure suffered a light stroke March 19th and following the second stroke, Thursday, he was taken to the hospital where death came Tuesday.

Mr. Laizure who was about 68 years of age, had always made his home in Douglas township and Winterset, until 9 years ago, when he moved to Des Moines. He was a son of Hiram and Nancy Laizure. He worked for many years in the T. L. Mullinix grocery store, and later conducted his own store in Winterset.

Among his survivors are three sons, Bob of California, who was with him during his fatal illness, Loran of Des Moines, and Burnell of California.

Funeral services will be held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Friday afternoon at 2:30 and burial will be in the McDonald cemetery in Douglas township.

William B. Laizure, son of William Hamilton and Nancy Laizure was born near Winterset, June 12, 1869, and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines March 28, 1939.

On December 26, 1893 he was united in marriage to Harriet Ann McDonald who preceded him in death twenty-one years ago. To this union three sons were born: Robert H., of San Mateo, Cal., Loran W., of Des Moines, and E. Burnell of Redwood City, Cal. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. George McDonald and Bella Laizure, both of Janesville, O., and four brothers, Hiram N. of Winterset, James T. of Lin---, Mo., Ralph L. of Los Angeles, Cal., and Albert Lee of Winterset, also four grandchildren.

In October, 1929 the deceased was married to Cynthia Gilbert and had made his home in Des Moines most of the time since. Prior to that, he had made his home in and around Winterset and South Dakota.

When a young man he united with the First Baptist church in Winterset, and always lived a conscientious Christian life. Besides his family he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

While he had been in failing health for some time, it was not regarded as serious until about 10 days prior to his death.

Funeral services were conducted at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home here Friday afternoon, by the Rev. Mr. Pitts of Des Moines, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, Jr. Burial was in the McDonald cemetery.
