John F. Kirby, for many years a resident of Crawford township, died yesterday morning at his home in Des Moines, terminating an illness of about 1 year. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1853 and in 1858, his parents settled in Section 17, Crawford township, the farm now occupied by Mr. Harpole. Owing to failing health he moved with his sister to Des Moines about two years ago.
About the first of the year he went to the hospital, where the best medical science and skilled nursing gave only temporary relief, his death resulting from a growth on the esophagus.
Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's church tomorrow at 10:30.
