Lucille Swallow, 91, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa. For the past nine years at Wesley, she actively enjoyed life and the many activities offered there.
Lucille was born August 19, 1920, in rural Van Meter, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Beatrice Reimann. She lived most of her life in Earlham and was married to Wayne Swallow for 55 years. She retired from The Earlham Savings Bank. Lucille enjoyed quilting and won awards for several of her quilts.
She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Betty) of Grand Island, Nebraska, and H. Dennis (Vicki) of West Des Moines; grandson Brian (Beth) Swallow of Omaha, granddaughter Melissa (Eric) Harbit of St. Louis, and granddaughter Amy (Lupe) Martinez of Omaha ; three great-grandchildren; sister Frances Wight of Winterset, brother, Gerald Reimann of De Soto, and sister Kay Jamison of Waukee. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, on January 8, 1999, her parents, and sisters Mildred Nesselroad and Rose Ellen Danley.
Per Lucille's wishes, there will be no services. Private burial of the cremains will be at the Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Booneville United Methodist Church, Booneville, Iowa on Saturday, January 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to the family at Swallow, 1505 S 60th St., West Des Moines, IA, for a fitting tribute to be decided later. Condolences may be directed to caldwellraddatz.com
