Dorothy A. Garmon, 89, of Des Moines died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at her home in Wesley Acres. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn's Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Dorothy Arlene Garmon was born on July 23, 1922 in Truro, IA to the late Leslie H. and Ruth (Fulton) Garmon. After completing two years of college at A.I.C. in Davenport she worked at Equitable of Iowa Insurance until retirement in 1982.

Dorothy loved meeting people. In 1979 she began twenty years of ushering at the Civic Center of Des Moines. From 1983 to 2000 she also worked as a cashier at Baker's Cafeteria. She was an active member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed cats and was an avid gardener and bridge player.

Dorothy is survived by many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
