Page 4Death of FRED HOOD
Fred Hood dropped dead Thursday, while painting at the Francis house just west of Winterset. He was the son of the late Alfred Hood, by his second marriage. Alfred Hood came from North Carolina to Indiana then to Madison county in 1856, being a well known farmer here. He was sent to the legislature in 1861-62; also held several county offices.
Fred, the youngest of the family, spent his life in Winterset. A half brother of Daniel, was in business here for years before moving to California.
His death was totally unexpected. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. J. Stewart in the United Presbyterian church.
_______________Coordinator's note: Burial in an unmarked grave in Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Madison County, Iowa per Madison County Death Record.
