LEWIS BURKHEIMER

Lewis Burkheimer died at his home on Monday, June 3d, of lung trouble, at the age of 75 years and 28 days. He was born in Ashland county, Ohio May 5, 1843. He was a veteran of the civil war, belonging to Co. A., 12th Missouri Cavalry.

Farewell brother, farewell, thy race is run,
Thy work on earth is nobly done
We weep beside the funeral bier,
For thee we shed the parting tear,
Sleep brother, sleep, we'll meet no more
Till we meet on the fair eternal shore,
When the trumpet shall sound the last recall,
And pass in review before the Maker of us all,

Rev. Mr. Evans of the Pentecostal church of Des Moines, had charge of the funeral services.

Transcriber's note: Burial was in the Peru cemetery.
