Kathryn L. Clayton, 94, lifelong resident of Dexter, Iowa, passed away December 21, 2011, at the Stuart Community Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Johnson Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in the Morrisburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuenralhome.com . Kathryn was born November 11, 1917, on a farm in rural Dexter, to George H. and Emily Firkins Cly. She was raised in the Penn center area, where she attended rural grade school. She was united in marriage to Maylon Dale Clayton, in 1949, and after their marriage they made their home in Dexter. Together they became the proud parents of five children, Mary, Jane, Dale (Frankie), Earl, Sharon. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being able to stay home and raise her children. Kathryn, was a past member of the Rebecca's Lodge and Passing Over Grand Club both in Dexter. Kathryn, was well known for her famous doughnuts, cinnamon rolls and noodles. She also enjoyed embroidering, gardening and canning, reading the newspaper every morning cover to cover to keep up on current events, visiting with friends, and spending quality time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Emily, beloved husband, Maylon, her brother, Woodrow Cly, and sisters, Helen Perez and Mary Nide.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved children, Mary Belle Beck, and Dale Clayton of Dexter, Jane Clayton, Earl Clayton, of Dexter and Sharon Clayton; grandchildren, Curt Beck of Almont, Michigan, Sheila (Ronald) Thomas of Chesterfield, Michigan, and Autumn Clayton; great grandchildren, Alysia, James Curtis II, Amber, Ashley, Colton, Wyatt and Alexander; one great-great granddaughter Kylie and a host of extended relatives and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
