Page 1JOHN SEILER'S DAUGHTER FALLS FROM TRUCK ON WAY TO SCHOOL
Roena Ruth Seiler, nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Seiler living in Lincoln township, about four miles from Winterset, was run over and killed by an auto truck on Thursday morning. Byron Day, the driver of the Union Produce Co's truck that runs from Lorimor to Winterset, had been in the habit of giving the youngsters in the vicinity of Washington school, rides to school.
A crowd of children were riding, as usual, and as the machine drew up to the school house, it is believed that the little girl tried to get out just as the brakes were applied, for other members of the party say they warned her not to get off just then. Whatever the real case might have been, the fact remains that she was drawn or fell underneath the truck, which ran over her body above the hips. She was taken home at once, but lived thirty or forty minutes and was dead when the physician reached there.
Funeral services were held Saturday at two o'clock at the Seiler home, Rev. A. D. Mann conducting, followed by burial in the Clark cemetery.

Roena Ruth Seiler, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Seiler was born Jan. 20, 1909 and departed this life, April 4, 1918, at the age of 9 years, 2 months, 14 days.
Little Ruth was an obedient and affectionate child of a sweet, kind disposition and was a favorite among her friends and playmates, by whom she will be sadly missed in the school and in her Sunday school class. Her little hands were always busy and her tasks well done. She took special pains to prepare her Sunday school lesson and read her Bible with great interest.
Besides her father and mother, she leaves to mourn their loss, two sisters, Mary and Myrtle; two brothers, Emery and Clifford.
