JOHN MCKENZIE

John McKenzie died at his home in Winterset on Feb. 18th, at the age of 73 years and 13 days. He was born near Inverness, Scotland, Feb 5, 1845 and came from there to Lacona, Iowa, in 1871.

His marriage to Miss Anna McLennan occurred in 1877. Their family consists of five children: Mrs. Eugenia Stout of Ladysmith, Wis.; Mrs. Kathryn Marshall of Cold Spring, Ky; Mrs. Mabel McLees, Miss Ethel and William McKenzie, all of Winterset. Three brothers of Mr. McKenzie live in this country and one sister and one brother live in Scotland.

The family left Lacona for Madison county in February, 1898, locating on a farm east of Winterset. Here they lived until two years ago, when they came to Winterset to make their home.

Mr. McKenzie died of a heart affection, which caused his death to be nearly instant. His earnest, devoted association with the local United Presbyterian church will cause him to be greatly missed.

Funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church on Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. J. Stewart followed by burial in Rock City cemetery.
