A native of Dahlgrin, Illinois who lived in Madison County for 65 of his 70 years, Forrest Glenn Black died Wednesday, March 16, 1977, at his home in rural Winterset. He was born March 30, 1906, the son of Oscar and Nora Hoots Black.
Mr. Black was married to Mary Miller on January 25, 1925 in Winterset. He was a farmer, semi-retired at the time of his death. Mr. Black was affiliated with Zion Federated Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Chauncey of Urbandale; two daughters, Jaquelyn Stevenson and Rosemary Ham of Winterset; and two foster sons, Richard D. Strong of Hawaii and Charles Michael of Brighton, Colorado.
Also surviving are three brothers, Charles of Greenfield, Maurice of Iowa City, and Paul of Silver City, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Leone Mayer of Winterset, Mrs. Nellie Cochran of Macksburg, Mrs. Helen Crawford of Macksburg; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for F. G. Black were conducted Saturday, March 19, at 1:30 p. m. from Collins Funeral Home. Mr. John Safford officiating. Burial was made in the Union Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials are being accepted to Zion Federated Church.
