The town and entire community were shocked and grieved by the death of Henry Southworth, last Friday morning, which occurred after a brief illness. He will be greatly missed by his schoolmates and many friends. The parents have the sympathy of the community in this great sorrow that came so unexpectedly.
The funeral services were held Sunday at the M. E, church, conducted by the pastor, G. T. Andrews. The Boy Scouts, of which Henry was a member, had part in the services.

Page 1, Column 4The uncertainty of life has been made very evident in our midst by its foe and enemy, death, who entered the home that was but a few brief hours before, full of unrealized hope and sincere aspirations for the future in the young manhood of Henery Rowe Southworth.
Henery was born in Grand River township June 22, 1914 and died in Macksburg, Iowa, Nov. 8, 1918 age 14 years 4 months and 16 days. He was a member and an attendant of the Methodist Sunday school; a member of the Boy Scouts of America and a splendid example of true Scout craft.
He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Southworth, his grand parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rowe, all of Macksburg, Mrs. Garden Croford, a sister of Broadview, Montana, a foster brother Milton Garnett, who is in the service of the Government an Aunt Mrs. Gene Wilson of Winterset, and a number of other relatives.
The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Conducted by Rev. G. T. Andrews.
The Boy Scouts attended in a body, also furnished the pall bearers, who were; Henry Cross, Marion Smith, Kenneth Jordan, Vernon Jessup, Glen Silverthorn and Lloyd Conway.
Interment was made in the Moon Cemetery.
