JOSEPH KORDICK, Perry

Joe Kordick, 88, of Perry died on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Perry Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the Beaver Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Dowling Catholic High School or the Perry Lutheran Home.

Joseph Paul Kordick was born on June 22, 1923 in Winterset, IA to Leo and Anna (Schreiner) Kordick. He graduated from Assumption High School in Granger, IA. He married Ina Jean Geneser on November 27, 1948 at Assumption Catholic Church. Joe had a lifelong career in farming including raising purebred Hampshire hogs. He was also a dedicated 4-H leader for more than 25 years. He was a longtime member of Assumption Catholic Church in Granger and then a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since 1990. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed bowling, reading and family.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ina Jean Kordick, Perry, IA; children: Connie Kordick, Marion, IA, Kathy (John) Westfall, West Des Moines, IA, Becky (Mark) Bray, Bettendorf, IA, Ed (Teresa) Kordick, West Des Moines, IA, Ken Kordick, Schaumburg, IL; grandchildren: Jill and Paul Westfall, Stephanie and Julie Bray, Monica, Maria and Anthony Kordick. Siblings include Evonne Brimmer, Sister Dorothy Kordick, Theresa O'Roake, Charles Kordick, Sister Rose Kordick and Leo Kordick. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Lawrence Kordick.

The family extends many thanks to the staff of the Lutheran Home for their love and support.
