Lorena Myrtle Mitchell, daughter of Charles and Amy Mitchell was born near Earlham November 9, 1889 and passed away at the Dallas County Hospital at Perry, after a 24 hour illness in the early morning of Wednesday, May 8, 1957 at the age of 67 years, five months and 29 days.

Lorena attended Earlham public schools and was graduated from the Earlham high school. Following graduation she taught in rural schools in the Earlham vicinity for a number of years.

Lorena was a birth-right member of the Bear Creek Friends church at Earlham.

She was united in marriage to Homer G. Randall March 12, 1914. Three children came to this home, a daughter, Mrs. Marie Plath and two sons Wilbur G. and William H.

Mr. Randall passed from this life June 10, 1933. After his death Lorena did practical nursing for a number of years, which work she enjoyed.

Lorena Randall was married to Harry A. Laborde of Perry, September 30, 1943 and had resided at Perry since that time.

She was loved by all for her comforting ways and her willing hands. Lorena belonged to several lodges; the Eastern Star, Retired Milwaukee Vet Club; the Milwaukee Women’s Club and the Co-Pilot lodge.

She loved nature, God’s natural environment, till she passed to the great beyond to meet those who preceded her in death: her mother, Amy Mitchell of Earlham, May 21, 1922, her father, Charles Mitchell of Earlham, January 4, 1929, one sister, Ethel Mitchell, October 25, 1943 and one brother, Bert Mitchell, October 25, 1947.

Left to mourn her passing besides her faithful husband, Harry A. Laborde of Perry, are one daughter, Mrs. Marie Plath, of Ogden and two sons, Wilbur G. of San Bernardino, California and William H. of Des Moines, one brother, Earl Mitchell, of Indianola. Four grandchildren, Harold Plath, of Ogden; Donald Plath, who is stationed with the Navy at Moffett Field, California; and Kathryn and Dianna Randall of San Bernardino, California, two nieces and two nephews and a host of relatives and friends also survive.

Note: Burial is at the Oakland Cemetery, De Soto, Ia.
