REBECCA JEAN PETTIT, WINTERSET

Rebecca Jean “Becky” Pettit, 37, of Winterset, Iowa, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center: West Lakes in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Dr. John Shaull and Chaplain Pam Avaux officiating. Burial was in the Greenfield Cemetery at Greenfield, Iowa.

Becky was born to Jerry and Dorothy (Murphy) Pettit on July 10, 1974, at the Madison County Memorial in Winterset. She was raised in Winterset and was a 1994 graduate of Winterset High School. She had been employed at Generations Child Care in Winterset for six years until its closing, and then worked as a third grade teacher at Kindercare Child Care in West Des Moines. She was in Who’s Among America’s Teachers for two years and was very proud of this honor. Becky enjoyed watching TV, shopping and being with friends.

Becky is survived by her mother, Dorothy Pettit of Winterset; brother, Rick Pettit of Granger; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Lee Pettit; brother, Steven William Pettit; grandmother, Helen Kashas; and grandparents, Agnes and Clarence Rudolph.

Memorials may be directed to her family for a future designation.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by
McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
