December 1988Funeral services for William Orville Coffman, 75, of Earlham were held Dec. 8, 1988 at the United Methodist Church at Earlham. Mr. Coffman died of pneumonia on Dec. 5 at Veterans Administration Hospital at Knoxville. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
The son of Walter and Edna Brunton Coffman, he was born in Ordway, Colo. on May 8, 1913. On March 10, 1961, he married Frances Morrison. He had worked in construction and as a welder for Solar Aircraft and Straight Engineering until his retirement in 1973. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Dexter American Legion Post.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Survivors includes his wife, Frances; a daughter, Becky Bywaters of Dexter; four sons, Richard of Texas, Howard of Waukee, Gene of DeSoto and Raymond of Earlham; three step-children, Sandra, Phil and Terry of Earlham; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
