Norma Jungmann, Winterset

Norma Jungmann, 89, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in Winterset. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15 at the Van Meter United Methodist Church of which she was a member. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will be at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center.

Norma was born on December 11, 1921 in Boone, Iowa to Carl and Iva (Dutton) Erickson. She and Kenneth Van Meter, DDS were married on August 18, 1941 and made their home in Dallas Center where Kenneth had his dental practice. In the years following Kenneth's death in 1972, Norma worked as a nurse's assistant at Spurgeon Manor. She and Elmer Jungmann were married in 1982 and made their home in Booneville until his death in 1984.

Norma had lived in Winterset since 2003 and enjoyed her time with friends at the Madison Square Assisted Living. She liked playing bingo, cards, traveling and reading. She loved spending time with her children and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

Those left to cherish Norma's memory include two sons, Kenneth Randall Van Meter of Van Meter and Steve (Kendra) Van Meter of Spicer, MN; son-in-law, Chuck Enlow of Dallas Center; four grandchildren, Kim (Deno) Sandquist, Jeff (Val) Enlow and Maren and Raelin Van Meter; one great grandchild, Josh Sampson; sister, Nyla Sturtz of Winterset; special friend, Glenn Sargent; and Elmer's children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; brother, Bud Anderson; sister, Josephine Fessler, daughter, Pamela Enlow and granddaughter April Van Meter.
