Gary L. Hood, 69, of Winterset died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset.
A visitation with family will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., today (Wednesday, Oct. 5) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.
Gary was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Winterset, the son of Wayne and Marion (Monagon) Hood. He graduated from Winterset High School in the class of 1960. Gary loved collecting antiques and for 15 years his hobby was his job as he operated and managed Hood’s General Store in Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother, Sandra Hood and Stephen Hood.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa R. Hood of Phoenix, Ariz.; three siblings, Robert Hood of Urbandale, Sherill Clark of Winterset and Karen Carter of Ankeny; 11 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces.
