Page 10Clyde Beard Death Saturday
A long-time employee of the city of Winterset, Clyde Beard, died Saturday, October 11, 1975 at his home in Winterset. His address here was 912 E. Buchanan. He was 73 years of age.
Mr. Beard was born December 12, 1901 in Madison County, the son of William Beard and Eliza Ann Miller. He married Mary Janes in June 1923 at Osceola, Iowa. Mr. Beard was a lifetime resident locally.
Beginning in 1929, Mr. Beard was an operator at the Winterset municipal light plant. His career extended for 37 years to his retirement in 1966. Mr. Beard was locally affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Surviving Mr. Beard is his wife, Mary Beard of Winterset. Two sons and five daughters also survive. They are: Forrest Beard and Jerry Beard, both of Indianola; Dorothy Young, Darlene Beard, Wanda Johnston and Rae Ann Hartley, all of Winterset and Jacqueline Wickett of Indianola. Nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
Also surviving Mr. Beard is a sister, Ruth DeBord of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services for Clyde Beard were conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 14th, 1975 from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset cemetery.
