Mortuary - Estella Ellison Hatfield

Estella, wife of E. E. Hatfield, was born in Delaware county, Iowa, November 20, 1866. Departed this life at her home north of Macksburg, Madison county, Iowa June 9, 1919, aged 52 years, 6 months and 20 days.

She, with her parents, moved to Rippley, Green county in 1882 and it was here in 1883 that she was united in marriage to E. E. Hatfield. To this union were born nine children, six boys and three girls: Maybelle Rogers, Earl Hatfield of Norwalk, Harold R., Hazel Edith, Fay Irene, Frank Lee, and Lloyd Thomas. Besides her husband and children, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. T. H. Darner of North Vernon, South Dakota and Mrs. Bert Weeks, an aunt, Mrs. Mary Black of Massena and many other relatives and a host of friends who mourn her in death.

Eleven years of married life was spent in Mill Creek, Indiana. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church early in life and has since been an earnest and faithful worker, willingly performing the duties assigned her. And now this laborious, devoted, trusted and honored woman has finished her course. From the zenith of a life in christian service, she passed the render her account to the master she served faithfully. Earth's loss is heaven's gain. She has said goodbye and left us, but that beautiful, pure christian and motherly character and influence will live though all time and will be found indestructible in the fierce judgment.

The funeral services were held at the Pleasant View church of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. G. T. Andrews. The church was packed to its fullest capacity with sorrowing friends who paid their last respects to this nobly good woman. The remains were given a resting place in Pleasant View cemetery. The pall bearers were: Elmer Eivins, Hugh Shearer, T. E. Smith, Wes Smith, H. H. Finney and A. D. Benson.
