Phillip Barber Services Held

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. this Monday, June 16 for Phillip E. Barber of Winterset, who died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines last Thursday, June 13. He was 49 years of age.

Phillip Eugene Barber was born in Winterset on October 16, 1925, the son of Russell and Cecile Laverne Clark Barber. On November 22, 19--, he was married to Betty Lou Lawson of Centerville.

In the late 1940’s and early 1950’s Mr. Barber operated a Perma-Stone business based in Winterset. In 1952, he and his family moved to Portland, Oregon, where he was employed as a car salesman and a boilermaker.

Mr. Barber was remarried on February 4, 196- to Theodora E. Ready. In 19— he and his wife returned to Winterset, where they started their own business.

Survivors include his wife, Theodora, of Winterset, his former wife, Betty ----- of Spokane, Washington, and his grandmother, Nora Clark of ---------.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon Myers of Portland, Oregon and four sons, Ronald, Russell and -------------- of Portland, and Robert Barber of Spokane, Washington.

In addition he is survived by three stepchildren: Penny Welty of Boring, Oregon, Terry Ready of Portland and ----- Ready of Gresham, Oregon. Other survivors include four grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. Mr. Barber was preceded in death by his parents.

Officiating at the funeral services held at the Collins Funeral Home was the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur of the First Christian Church of Winterset. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
