Truro Rites for Merrill Creger

Funeral services were held in Truro last Thursday for Merrill S. Creger, a well-known resident of that community. Mr. Creger died at his home in Truro on Tuesday, April 22, at the age of 79.

Merrill Samuel Creger was born in Truro on August 13, 1895, the son of W. Oscar and Ida Worthing Creger. He was educated in the Truro schools and attended Iowa State University for two years. On April 5, 1933, he was married to Cleo Youmans.

An insurance salesman, Mr. Creger was also a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Madison County Board of Review. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cleo, of Truro; a son, George Creger of Winterset; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, John Creger.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the United Methodist Church in Truro, with the Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. Burial was in the Peru Cemetery at Peru.

Hold Services For M. Creger

Merrill Samuel Creger, 79, died at his home in Truro on Tuesday, April 22, 1975. Services will be held Thursday, April 24, from the United Methodist Church in Truro with the Rev. Richard Hempenius conducting the 2 p.m. funeral. Interment will be in Peru Cemetery, Peru, Iowa.

Merrill Samuel Creger was born August 13, 1895, in Truro, Iowa, son of W. Oscar Creger and Ida Worthing Creger. After graduating from Truro schools, he attended Iowa State College at Ames for two years. He was married to Chleo Youmans on April 5, 1933. One son was born to this union.

He was a veteran of World War I and was in the insurance business as a profession. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Chleo of Truro; son, George Creger and wife, Pat of Winterset; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John.
