Hannah Duff Services Held

Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon for Mary Hannah Duff, a longtime resident of Madison county. She died at Madison County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 6, at the age of 85.

Mrs. Duff was born at Barney, Iowa on June 1, 1889, the daughter of Gorham and Ida M. Whited Palmer. She was married to Casper Cox at Winterset on January 21, 1915, and was preceded in death by him in 1949. She was married to Calvin Duff on June 1, 1958, and was preceded in death by him on February 26, 1965.

A housewife, Mrs. Duff resided in Madison County for most of her lifetime.

Mrs. Duff is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Mabel) Chew of Winterset, and Mrs. Ormie (Burla) Beaman of Orient; and one son, Lee Cox of Winterset. Also surviving are four step-daughters, Mrs. Leone Farwell of Winterset, Mrs. Betty ----- of Des Moines, Mrs. Belle Dickey of Stuart, and Mrs. Elowene Cannon of Mt. Ayr; and two stepsons, Donald Duff of Exira and Jack Duff of Winterset. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Duff was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and one son, Casper A. Cox in 1942; one grandson; four brothers; three sisters; and two stepsons.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur officiating. Burial was in the Chase-McDonald Cemetery.
