St. Charles Man Dies At Age 79

Frederick Douglas Young, a life long resident of Madison County, died at his home in St. Charles last Tuesday at age 79. Mr. Young had been a farmer, living on a farm near St. Charles. He was a member of the V.F.W. and was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

He was born in 1892, a son of Thornton and Martha Harlan Young of Madison County. Mr. Young was married to Rose McDaniel in 1921 near St. Charles.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers: Luther Young and Donald Young of Indianola, three sisters: Ida Young of St. Mary’s and Nellie Chamberlin and Wilma Foley, both of Peru.

Mr. Young is also survived by a foster daughter, Diane Martens and her husband Paul of Houston, Texas and four grandchildren.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jesse Carpenter; two brothers, Harrison Young and Lloyd Young and two sisters and one brother, who died in infancy.

The funeral was held last Friday afternoon at the United Methodist Church at St. Charles with the Rev. William Andre in charge. Burial was made at the Sayre Cemetery near St. Charles.
