John G. McGinnis, 87, of Norwalk died of pneumonia Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles.

Mr. McGinnis was born and had lived most of his life in Des Moines before moving to Norwalk 13 years ago. He was a property manager and had been an engineer for Solar Aircraft. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had been a prisoner of war. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

He is survived by two sons, John of Des Moines and Jerry of Rochester, Minn.; two daughters, Sherry McGinnis of Birmingham, Ala., and Joanne Ivey of Vinemont, Ala.; a sister, Jewel McGinnis of Norwalk; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church. Arrangements are being handled by Dunn’s Funeral Home.
