James N. Jones, Sr., 83, formerly of rural Indianola, passed away June 5, 2003. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola, with Father Wayne Gubbels officiating. Burial will be at Peru Cemetery in Peru.

James was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and had retired from Weitz Construction as a crane operator. He was a member of Indianola Country Club, Lakeview Country Club in Winterset and Local #234 of Operating Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Winterset; son, James Jones and wife Mary Jo of West Des Moines; daughter, Marilyn Brommel and husband Tom of St. Charles; brother, Bernard Jones of Florida; sister-in-law, Laona Goater of Winterset; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and 13 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gerry Diane.

Visitation with family present is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Alzheimers Association.
