EARL G. LINN DIES AFTER EXTENDED ILLNESS

Earl G. Linn passed away suddenly Monday evening at the Iowa Methodist hospital where he underwent an operation the preceding Thursday. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, of which he was a member. The services were conducted by the Rev. E. A. Elliott of Des Moines, assisted by the Rev. Earl McGinnis, pastor of the church. Music numbers were given by Mrs. Earl McGinnis and Mrs. A. L. Stigers, accompanied by Mrs. A. G. Felter. He was laid to rest in the Penn Center cemetery. The pallbearers were Charles E. Hennen, Marion Brooker, Ralph Jennings, Henry Wishmier, J. F. Fritz and J. Max Gutshall.
Earl G. Linn, son of J. W. and Jennie Linn, was born July 21, 1885, at Adair, Guthrie county, Iowa, and departed this world at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Dec. 13, 1943 at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 22 days. He spent the first 16 years of his life in the Adair community in which he was born, and then moved with his parents to a farm a mile east of Beaver. He lived at this place until his marriage to J. Bernice Lenocker on January 1, 1907, when they moved to a farm four miles south of Dexter. To this union were born eleven children, Darrell of Waukee, Lloyd of Camp Hood, Texas, Lawrence of Waukee, Wilbur of Des Moines, Mrs. Earl England of Van Meter, Mrs. Alvin Boston of Adel, Mrs. Carroll Gutshall of Van Meter, Ila of Earlham, Earl, Jr. of Farragut, Idaho, Thelma of Des Moines, and Bernard of Bruce, S. D. His wife, Bernice, preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 1927, at their farm home north of Earlham.
In 1929 Mr. Linn moved his family to a farm south of Van Meter, and he had made his home in this community ever since. He had been in failing health since the spring of 1941. He was bedfast for five weeks preceding his death.
He is survived by his six sons, his five daughters, his mother, Mrs. Jennie Linn of Brookings, S. D., four brothers, Harry of Exira, Karl of Brookings, S. D., Guy of Bruce, S. D. and Gene of Washington state; a sister, Mrs. Lela Smith of Brookings, S. D. and ten grandchildren.
