Ilah Pauline Mueller

Ilah Pauline Jobst was born November 9, 1919, the daughter of Adolph Wilhelm and Ida Norine Elizabeth (Scar) Jobst in Madison County, Iowa, and passed away at the Cass County Hospice Center in Atlantic, Iowa, on Monday, August 22, 2011.

She grew up in rural Madison County and graduated from Earlham High School in May of 1937. Upon graduation, Ilah worked as a secretary at the Earlham School.

On March 24, 1947, Ilah was united in marriage to Dale Mueller at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, Iowa. The couple lived on farms near Anita and Adair before purchasing a farm west of Adair in 1955, where she worked with Dale and maintained their home. They lived on their farm until Dale passed away. Ilah then moved into Adair.

Ilah was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter where she was baptized and confirmed. Later she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adair and was involved in LWML.

Ilah enjoyed needle work and quilting. She had a very sharp memory and was a very kind and caring person.

Preceding Ilah in death were her husband, Dale; her parents, Adolph and Ida Jobst; her brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Ruth Jobst; and her brother-in-law, Marvin Wedemeyer.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Paul Jobst of Greenfield, Iowa, Nancy (Phil) Simonson of Fairbault, Minnesota, Roy (Mary) Jobst of Earlham, Iowa, Lyle Jobst of Ankeny, Iowa, Ray (Candy) Jobst of Macungie, Pennsylvania, David (Linda) Hansen of Omaha, Nebraska, Dean (Kay) Hansen of Anita, Iowa, and Mark (Jill) Hansen of Fremont, Iowa; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church northwest of Adair. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services, also at the church.

Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair. Lunch will be served at St. John’s Church fellowship hall after the committal.
