Obituary - Emma J. Reager

Emma J. Reager, born August 17, 1867, near Henry, Ill., was the younger daughter of John B. and Mary Ann (Mansing) Cox.

At the age of 16, she moved with her parents to Madison county, Iowa.

In January 1892, she was united in marriage to Abram L. Reager. To this union were born a son, Carl, and a daughter, Gladys.

Soon after their marriage they moved to their present home near Norcatur.

In 1896 they located on a farm near Peru, Iowa and in 1897, returned to their former home on the farm near Norcatur, where they have since resided.

Her husband, Abram, preceded her in death early in 1910, leaving her the full responsibility and care of her children, an obligation and duty which she nobly and faithfully fulfilled.

She peacefully passed away in the early morning of August 22, 1940, at the home. She was 73 years of age.

She was a faithful member of the M. E. Church of Norcatur and of the Royal Neighbors of America.

We will miss her, and in her passing the community loses a good woman, and a kind neighbor, and the many friends and two children will miss a kind friend and a loving mother.

In our book of memories, we read, 'A friend to all, congenial and willing to sacrifice for her friends

She leaves to mourn her loss, her son, Carl and daughter Gladys of the home near Norcatur, an only sister, Mrs. Mattie Burd of Lineus, Mo., and many other relatives and numerous friends.
