JIM AGAN, JOHNSTON

Jim Agan, 61, of Johnston died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 10) at New Hope United Methodist Church in Des Moines with Pastor Craig Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset. Memorials may be given to the family for a future designation.

Jim was born on June 28, 1950, at Des Moines, Iowa to Everett and Mary (Stephenson) Agan. He was raised in Madison County and was a 1968 graduate of Winterset High School. On May 11, 1996, he married Barbara Ann Van Vleet at Fontanelle, Iowa. Jim had lived most of his life in the Des Moines area and had lived in Johnston since 2008. Jim had been an estimator for Color Inc. in Des Moines and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Des Moines.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barb Agan of Johnston; mother, Mary Agan of Winterset; stepchildren, Angie Doucette of Weymouth, Mass., and James Bond of Fontanelle; brothers, John Agan of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dale Agan of Omaha, Neb.; sister, Peggy Phillips of Peru; and six step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Agan; and niece, Julie Phillips.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Jim Agan 61, of Johnston, died Saturday at Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope United Methodist Church in Des Moines with burial at 4 p.m. in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset.

Jim was raised in Madison County and was a 1968 graduate of Winterset High School. He had been an estimator for Color Inc. in Des Moines and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Des Moines.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barb Agan of Johnston; mother, Mary Agan of Winterset; stepchildren, Angie (Matt) Doucette of Weymouth, MA and James (Brenda) Bond of Fontanelle; brothers, John (Mary) Agan of Las Vegas, NV and Dale (Connie) Agan of Omaha, NE; sister, Peggy (Dennis) Phillips of Peru; and six step- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Agan.

Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family for a future designation.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
