Arnold L. Clifton, 69, passed away at home Monday, July 18, 2011. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Panther Creek Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home where family will greet friends 4 to 7 p.m.
Arnie was born June 4, 1942 to Chet and Monta Clifton. He graduated from Earlham High School in 1961. On April 3, 1966 he was united in marriage to Janet Emerson. To this union three children were born and made their home in rural Adel. Arnie was retired from Super Valu and the Iowa Army National Guard. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, camping, woodworking, and archery competitions. Arnie also belonged to Lighthouse of Christ Church.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Clifton, Scott (Mona) Clifton both of Adel; daughter, Debbie (Leon) Meiners of Dedham; six grandchildren; and brother, Jerry (Linda) Clifton of Rockford, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Janet; and a brother, Dwight Clifton.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
