BARBARA J. BEECH, Truro

Barbara Jean Beech, 69, born to Wilma L. and Robert J. Cook, passed away July 28, 2011 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Barb graduated from North High School. She then met the love of her life, Jerry L. Beech; they were married on March 26, 1960. After raising her two daughters, she went on to become a devoted employee of Des Moines Public Schools for 29 years; she retired July 2007. Some of her favorite hobbies were collecting antiques, tending her flower gardens, caring for her dog, taking horse and buggy rides and enjoying time with her family and friends. She was an active member of New Virginia Methodist church. She and Jerry have resided in Truro for 15 years.

Barb was preceded in death by her twin sons, Craig and Gregory; her parents; and brother, Darrell Lee Cook. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Suzanne L. Merrick (Mike), Jerri Lynn Sinclair (Nicholas); four grandchildren; brother, Robert H. Cook (Sally); sister, Cheryl Hanson (Ron); her many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

There will be a "Celebration of Barb's Life" 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at New Virginia Cemetery and continuing at 11 a.m. at New Virginia United Methodist Church so that family and friends may gather to remember the joy she brought into our lives. She touched so many with her love, kindness and loyal friendship.

In lieu of flowers, Barb requested that any memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

Barbara Jean Beech, 69, of Truro died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

There was a Celebration of Life service held Monday, Aug. 1, at New Virginia Cemetery and continuing at New Virginia United Methodist Church.

Born to Wilma L. and Robert J. Cook, Barb graduated from North High School. She then met the love of her life, Jerry L. Beech. They were married on March 26, 1960.
