JAMES ALBERT ADAMS, Martensdale

James Albert Adams who was born on October 7, 1931 to Frank and Helen Adams in Indianola, IA, and died June 7, 2011 at home of heart failure. Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 11 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Cremation will follow services and burial of cremains will be held at a later date in the Linn Grove Cemetery, Prole, IA.

On May 20, 1951 he married Mary June Lathrum and they were married for 57 years. He lived the majority of his life in Martensdale where he owned and operated Adams Brothers Skelly Gas Station with his brothers for 25 years. He also owned J&J Sweet Shop in Winterset and then retired from Dahl's Food Store in Des Moines.

He is survived by his daughters, Patti (Merle) Walter of Mount Ayr, Michelle Adams of Clive; his son, James Adams Jr. of Johnston; grandchildren, Chip Williams of Winston-Salem, NC and Allison Walter of Olathe, KS; and brother, Jerry (Marie) Adams of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Patricia Ann and brother, Frank Jr.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 10 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martensdale Fire and Rescue. Online condolences may be made to www.overtonfunerals.com.
