Pg 3Mrs. Mary Jensen was born Nov. 29, 1893 in the town of Van Meter, Iowa and died Jan. 4, 1919 at 11 a.m. in the Mercy hospital at Des Moines, where she had been for a week, suffering with peritonitis, which also was the ------- cause of her death, being of Lutheran faith she was visited there by Rev. Vogel of Des Moines, the night before she died.
Her age was 25 years, 1 month and one week. She leaves two children, Pauline Elizabeth, age two years, and Vera Fernanda, age two months. She also leaves her husband, Mr. Arthur Jensen to whom she was married to Jan. 21, 1914 and who, having lost his mother when he was but a child, now for the second time experiences the meaning of the motto, “What is a home without a mother.”
Among the number of mourners are also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Boos, two brothers, Joseph and William Boos; four sisters, Mrs. Wm. Lienemann, Mrs. Emil Ziemann, Anna and Clara Boos, and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held in the Jefferson township Lutheran church on January 6th, Rev. H. W. Schrieber officiating. Among the floral offerings was also a beautiful spray from the Lutheran Ladies Aid, of which she had been a charter member.
Note: Burial was made in the Trinity German Lutheran cemetery.
