RUSSELL D. YOUMANS

Russell David Youmans, son of Jason and Sarah Youmans, was born in New York state March 6, 1849 and passed away at his home in Truro, Iowa, Nov. 26, 1917, at the age of 68 years, 8 months, 20 days.

In 1854, he moved with his parents to Peoria county, Illinois. On Oct. 28, 1873 he was united in marriage to Anna M. Delong and to this union were born five children, three of whom, Arthur G., Alma O. and Daisy M., died in infancy. The surviving children are: Mrs. Clara Brown of New Mexico, and Elmer Youmans of Truro, In 1882 Mr. Youmans moved to Madison county, his wife dying soon after his arrival. On June 24, 1885, he was again united in marriage to Julia E. Deardorff. To this union were born three children, Ernest W. dying in infancy. The surviving children are: Clyde W. and Gladys V. Youmans of Madison county.

Besides the wife and children, other relatives are three brothers and two sisters, two daughters in law; Mrs. Ivy Youmans and Mrs. Floy Youmans; one son in law, Will Brown and seven grand children. At the age of 15 years, Mr. Youmans joined the Methodist church, living a faithful member through the remaining years of his life.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Truro at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28th, by Rev. McEldowney. Interment was in the Peru cemetery.
