Samuel Henry Pearson, son of James and Jane Pearson, was born in Madison county, Iowa, near Macksburg, on November 20, 1854, and passed from this life August 18, 1920, aged 65 years, 8 months and 28 days.
He was married to Emily Jane Cecil October 29, 1877, and to this happy union ten children were born: Leonard Linn, of Winterset, Druzilla Belle Lovell, who died April 22, 1919, at Custer, South Dakota, Milton Leroy, sill at home, and who has taken constant care of his father, Bessie Mae, who died in infancy, Maggie Susannah Smith of Jackson township, Rosa Myrtle Smith of Penn township, Birdie Grace Poerink of Des Moines, a baby boy dying April 13, 1898; Doris Cecil Kalbach and James William, both at home.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and constant companion who has never left his bedside, seven children and ten grandchildren.
Mr. Pearson has been in poor health for several years and Sept. 1, 1919, underwent an operation at Rochester, Minn., in hopes of regaining his health, but has failed ever since, dying after a paralytic stroke. He has left us for that other world where we have neither pain nor sorrow. We have lost a husband, father, friend and neighbor whom we will all greatly miss.
He was a member of both the Masonic order and the Eastern Star, the Masonic order having charge of burial service.
The funeral was conducted by Walter Girdner in Penn Center church Friday, August 20, 1920, and interment made in the Penn Center cemetery.
