Elaine Joan Beverlin, 88, of Hart, Mich., died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Oceana Seniors Center in Hart, Mich.

Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Truro on Saturday, April 16, with Rev. Larry Smith, officiating. Interment followed in the St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Samaritan’s Purse.

Elaine Joan, the daughter of Eugene Husted and Lois Garnita (Collins) Husted, was born Aug. 23, 1922, in St. Charles. After graduating from high school, Elaine was united in marriage to Ernest Clark (Jim) Beverlin on May 17, 1941, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Truro, Knoxville, Sigourney and Newton before moving to Michigan in 2003. Elaine attended the Shelby Road Baptist Church. She was active in the Republican Party and worked on election boards.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Clark "Jim" Beverlin; an infant son, Eugene Clark Beverlin; a sister, Marjorie Husted; and a brother, Billie Husted.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Rickhoff of Mears, Mich., Marsha Vampatella of Inverness, Fla.; her sisters, Kaye Dutcher of Indianola, Carol VanFleet of Sigourney, Betty Gill of Mountain Home, Ark.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
