Galen Lee Saxton

Galen Lee Saxton, 46, of 1105 S.E. Sixtieth St., died Sunday at his home of a heart attack.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Lorimor, with burial at Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.

Born in Lorimor, Mr. Saxton was a resident of Des Moines for 10 years. He was president of Saxtco, Inc., and was a member of the Blue Lodge in Lorimor and of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; a son, David of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Graham of Des Moines and Janet Saxton of Decorah; two stepsons, Edward and Albert Hutson, both of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Lorene Corsbie of Lorimor and Mrs. Carol Thomas of Humeston; a brother, Paul, of Ames, and two grandchildren.

The Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home in Lorimor is in charge of the services.

Galen Saxton dies at D.M.

Galen Saxton, 46, of Des Moines, died at Mercy hospital there Sunday. He was a former resident of Lorimor and of Creston.

His body is at the Watts-Lindsay funeral home at Lorimor. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Galen Saxton funeral Wed.

LORIMOR—The funeral for Galen Lee Saxon, 46, formerly of Lorimor and Creston, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lorimor United Methodist church. Rev. Kathryn Williams, pastor of the church, and Rev. James W. Morris, pastor of the Afton United Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg. Masonic services will be held at the church by the Lorimor Masonic lodge. His family will be at the Watts-Lindsay funeral home at Lorimor from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Galen Saxton died at Mercy hospital at Des Moines on Sunday.

He was born March 31, 1929, the son of Ralph B. and Bertha Pickney Saxton.

He had lived in Iowa all of his life and had been engaged in construction. He had lived in Des Moines since 1965.

He was married to Mary Jo King, and later was married on Sept. 15, 1968 at Des Moines to Marjorie Long, who survives.

He also is survived by a son, Michael Saxton of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Gail) Graham of Des Moines and Janet Saxton of Decorah; two stepsons, Bart Hutson and Edward Hutson of Des Moines; two sisters, Vernie (Lorene) Corsbie, of Lorimor and Mrs. Doyle (Carol) Thomas of Humeston, and a brother, Paul Saxton of Ames.

He was a member of the United Methodist church, the Lorimor Masonic lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Temple Shrine of Des Moines, and the Elks lodge.

A memorial fund has been established for the Shriners Children’s hospital. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Rites today for Galen L. Saxton

LORIMOR—The funeral for Galen Lee Saxton, 46, formerly of Creston and Lorimor, was held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Lorimor United Methodist church. Rev. Kathryn Williams and Rev. James W. Morris officiated. Music was by Mrs. Larry Stephens, organist, who played “Beyond the Sunset” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Casket bearers were Larry Long, George Monk, Jeff Graham, Jerry Ellis, Robert Butler, Edward Smith and George King. Burial was in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg. The Watts-Lindsay funeral home of Lorimor was in charge of the service. Masonic services were held at the church by the Lorimor Masonic lodge.

Mr. Saxton died at Mercy hospital at Des Moines on Sunday. He had lived in Des Moines since 1965.
