Death of Jessie E. Holton

Jessie Elmer Holton died at Afton, August 16, 1929, at the age of fifty-six years. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Virgil, of Afton, and Sylvester of Macksburg, two daughters, Mrs. Martha Young, of Creston, and Mrs. Nellie Jenkins of Macksburg, and his mother, Mrs. Ponce, of Creston and sister, Mrs. Janie Rawllings of South Dakota.

Mr. Holton lived for several years on a farm west of Macksburg. In 1918 he built a home in Macksburg where he lived until his sudden death. Death occurred when at a doctor’s office in Afton.

Funeral services were held at the Macksburg Methodist church August 20th, conducted by Rev. Eugene Alexander.

Obituary – Jesse E. Holton

Jesse Elmer Holton was born in Warren county, Illinois, February 28, 1873, and died in Afton, August 16, 1929, aged fifty-six years, five months and sixteen days.

He leaves his wife, two sons; Virgil, of Afton and Sylvester, of Macksburg; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Young, of Creston, Mrs. Nellie Jenkins, Macksburg; an aged mother, Mrs. Pence, of Creston and one sister, Mrs. Janie Rawlings, Wisota, South Dakota.

Mr. Holton lived several years on a farm southwest of Macksburg. In 1914 he bought some lots and built a home in Macksburg where he lived a quiet life until his sudden death which occurred last week while in a doctor’s office in Afton.

Funeral services were held at the Macksburg Methodist church August 19, conducted by Rev. Eugene Alexander. Burial was in the Macksburg cemetery.
