Earlham Echo – April 22, 1943

Funeral for Baby Son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fagen Was Held Wednesday

Harold Marvin Fagen, son of Harold and Marie Fagen was born at the Dexter Clinic, March 8, 1943 and departed this life, April 20, 1943 at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines.

The sacrament of baptism was administered to the child, March 31.

From birth it was known that the little one could not live, however everything known to medical science, hospitalization and loving care of physician and nurse was lavished without restraint. Everything that was humanly possible was done.

How brief the stay, as beautiful as fleeting, the time that baby came with us to dwell. Just long enough to give a happy greeting, just long enough to bid us all farewell.

He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, Harold and Marie Fagen, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. C. P. Benson, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Fagen of Dawson, Iowa. His great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Allen of Jamaica, Iowa. His aunts Mrs. Wilbur Flora of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. Earle Blezek of Jamaica, Alberta, Josephine and Ellen Fagen of Dawson, Iowa, and two little cousins, Eugene Blezek and Julie Ann Flora.

Brief funeral services were held in the Welch Funeral Home in Earlham, Wednesday p.m. conducted by Rev. Clemmer. Burial was in Penn Center cemetery.
