Monday, June 9, 2008Hazel B. Phillips, age 73, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and Wellington area resident for most of her life, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 5, 2008. Hazel was a homemaker and also a retired Para with U.S.D. #353.
Hazel B. (Lemon) Phillips was born on April 11, 1935 in Peru, Iowa to Bert B. Lemon and Emma Louise (Kiple) Lemon.
Hazel B. Lemon married Earnest H. Phillips on August 10, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Hazel was very actively involved in her church and she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earnest; brother, Ray Lemon; and daughter-in-law, Shannon Phillips.
Survivors include her son, E. Ryan Phillips of Broken Arrow, OK; two daughters, Carolyn Hain and her husband Melvin of Wellington, KS and Vicky Hernandez of Wichita, KS; step-daughter, Norma Jean Martin and her husband Jerry of Arkansas City, KS; two sisters Roberta Moreland of Wellington, KS and Dora Gardner of El Dorado, KS; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at First Southern Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. Pastor Phillip Wylie will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Belle Plaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 9, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church. Memorials can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Friday, June 13, 2008Hazel B. Phillips, 73, of Wellington, died June 5, 2008 in Wellington. She was born on April 11, 1935 in Peru, Iowa.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at First Southern Baptist Church in Wellington.
Pastor Phillip Wylie was officiant. Soloists were Nancy Colwell and Phillip and Amy Wylie.
Pianist was Betty Pattrick.
Ushers were John Pattrick and Donnie Harris. Casket Bearers were Ryan Hain, J.R. Phillips, Charlie Jesseph, Rick Martin, Andrew Martin and Michael Martin.
Graveside services were held at Belle Plaine Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
A memorial fund has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church. Frank Funeral Home in Wellington was entrusted with the arrangements.
