Earlham

Henry Schlarb, former of Earlham but for the past few years from near Ames, was buried at Penn Center recently. The funeral party drove across the country.

Henry George Schlarb was born in Holmes Co., Ohio, January 12, 1860 and died at his home in Collins, Iowa, November 18, 1921.

He came with his parents to Penn Township, Madison County, Iowa in 1869. He resided with his parents on the home place until he married.

During later years he has lived in Des Moines, Earlham, Dexter and Van Meter, moving to Collins two years ago last May.

He was married to Lena Leota Orahood on November 1, 1884. To this union was born four children, Mrs. Edith Elsie Wetrich, of Collins, Iowa, and Clarence Schlarb of Valley Junction, Iowa. Two daughters, Alfarata and Lottie May, also the wife preceded him to the home eternal.

In early manhood he joined the Presbyterian Church and lived an upright Christian life a splendid example of industrious manhood.

At Des Moines, Iowa on September 13, 1901 he was united in marriage to Barbara Elizabeth Trissel. To this union one child Junior Henry was born.

He is survived by one brother and three sisters: P. P. Schlarb, Earlham, Iowa, Mrs. Sophia Fritz of Earlham, Mrs. Kate Rausenberger, Columbus City, Iowa and Laura Henry at Earlham, Iowa; also one granddaughter, Leota Schlarb. (Unreadable sentence)

The funeral services were held at the Penn Center Church November 21, 1921 at 2 p.m. A large number of relatives and friends being present. Rev. ---- pastor of Collins Methodist church and Rev. ---------- officiated. Interment took place in the Penn Center Cemetery.
