Thomas Henry Walker, Sr., 85, of St. Charles died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 2349 Vintage Lane in St. Charles. His body has been cremated. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.
Tom was born on May 2, 1925, at Prescott, Iowa to Will and Mart (Sickles) Walker. On Nov. 8, 1948, he married Darlene Stump at St. Charles. They lived on the family farm at St. Charles since 1952. Tom had been a structural steel worker for Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel in Des Moines until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Walker; daughter, Karen Rose Walker; brother, William George Walker; sister, Maude Marie Chapman; and great-granddaughter, Kinze.
Tom is survived by his children, Sandra Lou Bush, Connie Jean Thomas, Linda Dianne Clay, Thomas Henry Walker, Jr., Carmen Carlotta Maxwell, Shelly Janine McCullough, Amy Irene Dalton, John Arthur Walker and Don Ray Walker; 25 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
