Mrs. Eliza Storck Died Las Monday at Age of 92 Years

Mrs. Eliza Storck passed away at her home in Van Meter about eleven o’clock Monday night, August 26th, 1935, at the age of ninety-two years. Although Mrs. Storck had not been feeling well for a few weeks, she continued active until she suffered a stroke four days before her death.

Sophia Dorothea Eliza Storck, was born in the Province of Westphalia, Prussia on April 11th, 1843. At the age of three years, she with her parents, came to America, to Guttenberg, Clayton county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. In 1862 she was married to Carl Ludwig Storck. To this union ten children were born, five sons and five daughters, all of whom survive, except one son, George, who preceded her in death in 1920.

In 1888 she, with her family, came to Dallas county where she has since resided. In early childhood she was baptized and later confirmed in the faith of the Evangelical Lutheran church and she remained a faithful member of her church all her life.

The children left to mourn her departure are Mrs. Herman Marquardt of Van Meter, Mrs. Martha Zieman of Oakes, North Dakota, Miss Minnie Storck and Mrs. Charles A. England of Van Meter, Mrs. Harry H. Phillips of Corning, California, John P. Storck and Richard C. Storck of Des Moines, Daniel B. Storck of Marion, Iowa, and Manuel H. Storck of Storm Lake, Iowa. Besides her children, she left 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran church in Jefferson township on Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C. Lilie. Musical numbers were given by Misses Alma ----- and Irene Boos, and the Messrs Fred Martens, Arthur Martens, Irvin Martens and Julius Jensen. Miss Esther Martens was pianist. Grandsons served as pallbearers, C. Dwight England, Carl Storck, David H. Marquardt, Oscar Marquardt, Gale Storck and Owen Storck. The burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.

Those who were here from a distance for the funeral were Mrs. Martha Zieman and Mrs. Fred Johnson of Oakes, North Dakota, Mrs. Harry H. Phillips of Corning, California, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel H. Storck and daughter Joy of Storm Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Storck of Darlington, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel B. Storck and daughter, Eleanor and Mr. and Mrs. Gale Storck of Marion, Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Storck and daughter, Miss Evangeline, John P. Storck, Mr. and Mrs. C. Wayne Grieder and family, M. D. Meehan, Mrs. Russell Meehan, Mrs. Edward Meehan, Mrs. William Jopling, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Stevens, and Mrs. Floy Cook all of Des Moines.
