Porter E. Tomlinson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. David Tomlinson, was born near Van Wert, Ohio, June 16, 1862, and departed this life July 8, 1928, aged 66 years and 22 days. When seven years of age he, with his parents moved to Champaign, Illinois, where the family resided for fourteen years, then moving to Madison county, Iowa, where the greater part of his mature years was spent.

On November 24, 1884, he was united in marriage to Ella Young. To this union five children were born, two preceeding him in death, Mrs. Arthur Silliman dying in 1921, and Raymond, dying in infancy, and his wife, dying in 1901. In passing he leaves to mourn him three children: Robert, of Los Angeles, California; Gale, of Jefferson and Hazel, of Denver; eleven grandchildren, and two brothers, Edgar, of Emporia, Kansas, and Frank, of Dana, besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church at Peru Wednesday, July 17th, at 2 o’clock, by the Rev. Morrison, and interment was made in the Peru cemetery, by the side of his wife.
