Death of Miss Carrie Evans

Miss Carrie Evans, a former teacher of the Winterset schools, died at her home in Minneapolis, last Wednesday, March 25th, at the age of 63 years. The body was brought here by her sisters, and the Rev. Paul Main Fowler, pastor of the Presbyterian church, conducted her funeral services at Tidrick’s funeral home, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Miss Evans was born in Brooklyn, Iowa, May 23, 1867. She came with her parents to Winterset in 1889, and taught in the public schools. For a number of years, she taught the first grade in the north ward. She went to Minneapolis in 1901, and served as a teacher in the Lincoln and Grant schools for 28 years. In 1904, she returned here to teach for two years, during the illness of her father. Miss Evans was a teacher of the Grant school in Minneapolis at the time of her death.

The deceased was a former member of Chapter P.E.O. She was the first state president of the organization in Minnesota, and was a trustee of the educational fund.
