Death of Mrs. Claire Burd

Mrs. Claire Burd died Tuesday evening, November 27th, at ten o'clock, leaving a baby daughter, Carmen Virginia, a few hours old. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Burd, and daughter, Melba. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Goodwin of Winterset, and also a sister of Mrs. Ray Allen.

They had been living in Des Moines, but a year ago they moved back to Winterset. Mrs. Burd was twenty-six years of age.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thanksgiving Day) at Tidrick's funeral home at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. F. Clare McCallon officiating.

Interment will be in the Winterset cemetery.

Nettie, youngest daughter of William H. and Ida May Goodman, was born in Webster City, Iowa, on September 22, 1902. The family lived in Webster City until Nettie was five years of age, at which time they moved to Dows, Iowa, where she attended school. She came with the family to Winterset in 1920.

She was married to Clair Burd, July 23, of the same year. Two children were born to them, Melba Lorraine, aged 5 and their new born baby girl, Carmen Virginia.

After their marriage they lived a short time in Beloit, Wisconsin; they then lived for several years in Des Moines, returning to Winterset a little more than a year ago.

She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in 1926. She was always loving and kind and loved her home and family. She was in good health until her baby was born, but passed away two hours later, on November 27, 1928, at the age of 26 years, 2 months and 5 days.

She leaves besides her husband and children, her father and mother, living in Winterset, and four brothers and two sisters, Jesse Goodman, of Big Lake, Minnesota; William T. Goodman, of Parsons, Kansas; Harry Goodman, of Peru; Edward Goodman, of Lake Park; Mrs. Iva Wooten of Clarion, and Mrs. Ray Allen, of Winterset.

Rev. F. C. McCallon, assised by Rev. A. P. Keast, conducted the funeral service in the Tidrick funeral home, Thursday afternoon, November 29th, and the interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
